måndag 11 mars 2024 / / Tags:The CfCA initiative, implemented by Selam in partnership with the African Union (AU), aims to promote and develop the culture and creative sector within the AU member states. One key objective of the initiative is to lobby for increased public funding in the culture sector from government sources.
To support the CfCA project in achieving its objectives, Selam is seeking to hire a programme manager to oversee the overall implementation of the project. The officer will be based in Nairobi, Kenya or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
SCOPE OF WORK
The programme manager will form a key part of the CfCA team and work closely with staff at both Selam’s head-quarter (HQ) in Stockholm and regional offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The programme manager will be the main party responsible for the CfCA project’s implementation.
This includes:
● Independently following work plans and budgets for the project
● Preparing concept notes and action plans for project activities
● Monitoring relevant ongoing activities, processes and dialogues that relates to Selam’s vision and areas of operation, with particular emphasis on the culture sector and the development sector of the countries where Selam engages within its regional projects.
● Manage consultants and staff working with the CfCA project to ensure timely completion of tasks.
● Represent Selam and the CfCA project in relation to relevant external actors such as authorities and partners based in different countries in Africa which Selam engages.
The programme manager will be expected to have a flexible approach and be ready to accept working tasks outside of the original work description to support the rest of the project team when needed.
TIME FRAME
The position is a full time one-year assignment with the possibility of extension.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE
As the programme manager in Selam’s regional program team you should:
● Have at least three years of experience from project management of international development projects with a cultural focus in African contexts.
● Have an excellent understanding and knowledge of Selam as an organisation, including theorganisation’s vision, mission and overall objectives. Even though most work will be conducted within Africa, understanding of Selam’s full organisation is necessary as Selam always aims to find synergies between African and Swedish projects.
● Have knowledge of Selam’s ongoing regional projects in Africa, including the CfCA project and the Pan-African Network for Artistic Freedom (PANAF).
● Have an established regional network within the culture and creative sector in Africa, with an emphasis on regional and government bodies working with culture.
● Have excellent knowledge about the culture and creative sector in Africa, including recent trends and developments.
● Have full proficiency in English and excellent reporting skills.
It is further desirable if the candidate:
● Knowledge of other languages, especially French, Portuguese and/or Swahili.
● Previous experience working in the culture and creative sector in Africa.
You are happy to work both independently and in a team, and appreciate working in a dynamic and diverse work environment.
You must be based in either Nairobi, Kenya or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. If based in Nairobi, the candidate must have a licence to work as an independent consultant.
