The three musicians knew each other from the Addis music scene, but only started working together when they met in London, deciding to focus on traditional songs updated for the 21st century. Since then they have introduced the humble krar and the best of Ethiopian music all over the world, appearing on BBC television, and countless radio shows and festivals, recently having their music featured in Yared Zeleke’s international film Lamb, and becoming a favourite feature of British rock musician Damon Albarn’s Africa Express project, where they have played together with the legends of African music such as Baaba Maal and Rokia Traore and with western artists such as beatboxer Reeps 1, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, right up to Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney.
