The festival is a platform creating an opportunity for international and national music professionals to meet and collaborate.
– The festival serves as a tool for networking, training and jobs and helps to start off a public discussion about music and culture in Ethiopia and globally, says Teshome Wondimu, director of Selam.
A theme is running through the festival this year: highlighting the situation and the work for inclusive music education for the blind, which will involve the Selam project Inner Vision, both on stage and in seminars.
This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy and take part of the extraordinary wealth of talent and the vibrant music scene in Addis Ababa! It is an amazing artist line up – many of Ethiopia’s most popular artists will be on stage as well as invited guest artists from Sweden, Kenya, Mali and Uganda with a range of genres from hiphop/urban beats to folklore.
– See you in Addis !
Selam Festival is implemented in cooperation with YisaKal! Entertainment and carried out by the Selam and Selam Ethiopia team! The festival is a part of the program Cultural Enablers supported by Sida and the Culture Foundation of the Swedish Postcode Lottery.
